Oxford House set out for national expansion by hiring the first outreach workers to start opening houses in other states. Yes, the prospective residents of the House can find a suitable house, rent it, put up the security deposit and pay the first month’s rent themselves. Oxford House, Inc. will consider favorably a Charter application whether or not a loan is received from the State or some other outside source. The application is then considered by the membership of the House and if 80% of the members approve, the applicant is accepted and moves in.

There’s no time limit on how long a member can live in an Oxford House. The average stay is about a year, but many members stay three, four, or more years. Rents vary according to the size and location of the House, ranging from $95 to $110 per week, which covers all household expenses except food.
Q. How can one get into an Oxford House?
Each time it got harder and harder to recover and each time I would search and look for a way out. But, every time you go to jail, you start over; every time you go to jail, you lose everything; every time you go to jail, there’s never a opportunity for recovery just more disappointment.
